Yishu 8 Foundation
Beijing / Founder: Christine Cayol
About
Conceived by philosopher Christine Cayol as a "private version of the Villa Medicis," Yishu 8 is a Sino-French cultural foundation located in the former Sino-French University building. It acts as a refined, intimate sanctuary that bridges Eastern and Western thought through artistic residency programs. By hosting young French artists in Beijing and Chinese artists in Paris, the foundation fosters a "philosophy of the encounter." Unlike traditional white-box galleries, Yishu 8 is situated within a historic courtyard, offering a cozy, lived-in environment for scholarly and artistic exchange.
