Guangdong Times Museum
Guangzhou / Architect: OMA / Rem Koolhaas

About
Commissioned by the Times China group and designed by Rem Koolhaas and Alain Fouraux, the Guangdong Times Museum is a masterpiece of urban intervention. It is situated on the top floor of a residential building in the Huangbian community, 19 floors above the street. The architecture is defined by its transparency and its "parasitic" relationship with the domestic environment below, featuring a glass-walled gallery that offers a 360-degree view of the Pearl River Delta’s sprawling urbanization. As a non-profit institution, the museum serves as a critical laboratory for contemporary art in Southern China.

“Still as a Stone” does not seek to reverse the tide of digitalization, nor to erect a monument of farewell to the body. Virtualization and artificial intelligence have become reality; yet the body has never disappeared — it has only migrated into different media: into painting, into sculpture, into moving image, into data, continuously layering and depositing. The metaphor of stone is not stillness but sedimentation: whatever flows past leaves its trace, and the stone remains. *The exhibition features a spatial design by JND Architecture.
