About

Established in 2010, the Rockbund Art Museum (RAM) is a leading international institution for contemporary art in Shanghai. Housed in the historic 1933 Art Deco building that once served as the Royal Asiatic Society, the museum is situated at the northern end of the Bund. RAM is renowned for its architectural heritage and its commitment to commissioning site-specific projects that engage with the unique spatial qualities of its galleries.

As a non-profit museum, RAM focuses on the intersection of global contemporary art and the local context of China. Under a vision that prioritizes research-driven curation and public engagement, the museum has become a critical node for experimental practices. Its diverse programming ranges from grand-scale solo exhibitions to intimate archival displays, consistently challenging traditional museum boundaries and fostering a vibrant cultural discourse within the historic heart of the city.
