About
Established in 2017 by Xu Jiankang, Chairman of the Powerlong Group, the Powerlong Museum is a major cultural landmark in Shanghai's Minhang District. Spanning 23,000 square meters, the museum was founded with the vision to "promote traditional Chinese culture and stimulate Chinese contemporary art." It is distinguished by its stunning architectural design, featuring a central minimalist spiral ramp that connects ten expansive galleries, providing an immersive viewing experience comparable to the world's leading contemporary institutions.
The museum is home to the "Shucang Collection," one of the most significant private collections of modern and contemporary Chinese ink paintings and calligraphy. Beyond its permanent holdings, Powerlong Museum serves as a comprehensive center for academic exchange and public welfare, hosting major international retrospectives and cross-media installations. By bridging the gap between historical mastery and avant-garde experimentation, the museum fosters a vibrant aesthetic consciousness within the city's southern cultural corridor.
