About

Nestled along the historic Suzhou Creek, Fotografiska Shanghai is the first Asian outpost of the world-renowned Swedish photography museum. Opened in October 2023, the institution is housed within a complex of three restored early 20th-century warehouses that once served as bank depots. This 4,600-square-meter landmark masterfully blends industrial heritage with Nordic minimalism, featuring grand staircases and original brickwork that honor the building’s legacy while serving as a dynamic cultural center.

Fotografiska is defined by its vibrant, inclusive approach to visual culture, notably staying open daily until 11:00 PM to cater to the city's evening crowds. Beyond its rotating program of world-class photography exhibitions, the museum functions as a social hub, integrating a first-floor bistro, a concept store, and a rooftop lounge. By fostering a community for local avant-garde art and international photography, it has rapidly become a key catalyst for neighborhood rejuvenation in the Jing'an District.
