About

Founded in 2018 by collector Joan Zhang, the ASE Foundation is a non-profit institution based in Shanghai with a dedicated global perspective on contemporary art. Located on the 7th floor of the historic Ruijin Building, the foundation operates at the intersection of private collection, academic research, and public education. It is defined by its commitment to three core values: Love and Heritage (Amore), Knowledge and Art (Sapientiae), and Enlightenment and Humanity.

Beyond its rotating exhibition space, the foundation houses the ASE Art Library, a specialized resource containing over 2,000 professional volumes across ten art categories. By collaborating with major international publishing houses and hosting a rigorous program of artist forums and reading clubs, ASE Foundation serves as a vital intellectual hub for the Chinese contemporary art scene, fostering a deep "consensus" between domestic practice and the international art world.
